DEAD RISING 2 FANS TAKE LONDON

London, 24th September 2010 – In anticipation of today’s release of the Dead Rising 2 videogame from Capcom, fans from around the country were invited to attend a special early opening at HMV on London’s Oxford Street to secure their copies one day early.

The dedicated fans dressed in their best Zombie outfits, with the best invited to take part in a photo shoot in their full un-dead attire.

The photos were taken in and around Kensington Olympia, where the crew were scheduled to meet before their march on Oxford Street. The fans stopped to scare a few customers at a nearby laundrette, before stopping in at George’s – a typical London ‘greasy spoon’ cafe – where the staff were only too happy to accommodate a few living dead customers amongst the regulars.

Dead Rising was a really different game at the time it came out and I ended up playing it more than anything else,” commented Tom Hoskins, one of the intrepidDead Rising fans. “The sequel had been on pre-order for me for a while now, but when I heard about this I thought it would be a good chance to get it early!”

The early launch day follows on from the announcement on Tuesday of the Dead Rising 2 Top Movie Deaths List. Research undertaken in the build up to the game’s release placed John Hurt’s stomach-busting scene in the film Alien at number one, with honourable mentions going to the opening scene in Jaws, Dennis Hopper’s demise in the final stages of Speed and the T-Rex attack inJurassic Park amongst others.

Developed by Canadian studio Blue Castle Games in close collaboration with Capcom, Dead Rising 2 builds on the success of the original with thousands of zombies on screen at any one time. The combo weapon system introduces a whole new level of innovation where players are encouraged to combine the hundreds of objects found in the all new environment of Fortune City to produce a devastating array of zombie mashing devices.

Dead Rising 2 is published by Capcom for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 today, with the PC version due for launch on the 28th September.
