First Look at Katniss Everdeen from “The Hunger Games”

Exciting news from Entertainment Weekly: For fans of Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games trilogy, we get our first look at Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen on the cover of the upcoming issue of the magazine (on sale May 20th).
The book series about a post-apocalyptic North America where children forced to fight to the death for entertainment have been a huge success ending up #1 on the New York Times Bestseller list among others.
And when you have a popular book series turned movie, its large following of dedicated and passionate (read: hardcore) fans come along with it; they scrutinize every move a studio makes from the screenplay down to (arguably) most importantly — casting. So when Jennifer Lawrence (Oscar nominated for Winter’s Bone) was chosen as the lead, fandom went a little crazy to say the least. And let’s not even mention the hoopla over the actors cast as Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne.
