Say Goodbye: Karen Gillan & Arthur Darvill Leaving Doctor Who

So a few weeks back, we thought it was Matt Smith who would be leaving after the 7th series of Doctor Who but turns out it’s his companions that have a “heartbreaking” end in store.
During a screening of the Christmas episode “The Doctor, The Witch and The Wardrobe”, it was announced that Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill are exiting during the next series. Head honcho Steven Moffat says that Smith’s Doctor will meet “a new friend”. There’s been no word on whether the role has been filled yet.
Matt Smith has said: “We had the most incredible journey. We took over the show and we’ve really had to hold hands and help each other through it. So it’s very disappointing, but one has to remember that this show is about change and regeneration, and that’s what galvanizes it and pushes it forwards.”
Personally, I haven’t been a huge fan of Amy (love Rory though!), so while this will be very sad for a lot of Who fans, I won’t be crying in my TARDIS.
