MCM Adds Danny DeVito and More for This Year’s London Comic Con

Posted by deanjsimons on May 17, 2012

The line up for this year’s MCM London Comic Con continues to expand with big names and more panels representing all shades of awesome.

The biggest news of the weekend will surely be Danny DeVito who will be showing up on Sunday 27th May to lead Universal’s panel for his forthcoming animated comedy ‘The Lorax’. The dude is Hollywood royalty and has appeared in such films as ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest’, ‘Batman Returns’, and opposite Arnold (“ex-Governator”) Schwarzenegger in ‘Twins’.

Other additions on the film and TV front, UK TV channel Watch will be hosting a ‘Grimm’ panel with series star David Giuntoli on hand to chat about the show. Watch will also be hosting a ‘Sanctuary’ panel with Pascal Hutton, and will be giving a preview of ‘Primeval: New World’.

Also added to the MCM line up is British supernatural drama ‘Bedlam’ which will be getting its cast members and writers out for a chat on Saturday, ABC’s ‘Once Upon a Time’ star Raphael Sbarge will make an appearance at the convention, and Sarah Shahi from Universal’s ‘Fairly Legal’ will be stopping by over the weekend.

A biggy for those ‘Star Wars’ fanboys will be Anthony Daniels signings on the Saturday. Anthony Daniels played C3PO in ‘Star Wars’ for those (few) of you who need a reminder.

On the comic book side of things, legendary comic creator Marv Wolfman (famous for such small wonders as DC’s ‘New Teen Titans’, and ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’) will be showing up for his first UK convention appearance in 20 years in support of the Tokyo-based webcomics arm of Namco Bandai, where he will be announcing a new webcomic based on one of their popular game franchises.

There will be a myriad of things on the videogame front with far too many to mention here. Square Enix will be offering previews of forthcoming games, including Nintendo 3DS exclusive rhythm game ‘Theatrhythm Final Fantasy’, and offering the first UK playable opportunity to get a hands on with their open-world crime caper ‘Sleeping Dogs’. Warner Bros. Interactive entertainment will be previewing ‘Lego Batman 2′, and Namco Bandai will be throwing a plethora of things at show-goers including a ‘Naruto Shippuden’ game tournament on Saturday, ‘Tekken Tag Tournament 2′ arcade machines (which are exceedingly rare), and daily presentations on forthcoming titles like ‘Tales of Graces’, and ‘Ni No Kuni’. Konami will be giving some Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card Game loving with some demos and a screening of the latest Yu-Gi-Oh film, ‘Bonds Beyond Time’.

MCM London Comic Con will be on 25-27th May at Excel London. Tickets are available at https://www.mcmexpostore.com/store/
