Avengers Dominate: 3rd Highest Grossing Film EVER and Rising!

After leaving a trail of box office records in its wake, on Friday 1st June 2012 the rather excellent superhero blockbuster Marvel’s “Avengers” passed “Harry Potter & The Dealthy Hallows Part 2″ to officially become the third biggest cinema release ever. Read on behind the cut:
To put that in numbers, that’s over $1.3555 billion USD in global box office takings since it’s release on May 4th (Harry Potter took $1.328 Billion USD across it’s total run). Avengers Assemble now sits behind just the twin juggernauts of “Avatar” ($2.782 billion USD) and “Titanic” ($2.185 billion USD) in the biggest ever film stakes.
It leaves such epics as The Dark Knight, er… Transformers Dark Of The Moon (thank god), The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy & Star Wars : The Phantom Menace to name but a few, in the dust. Can Joss Whedon’s superhero team up overtake Titanic? Unlikely. Then again we probably never thought it could never possible be this unstoppable.
