COMIC REVIEW: 2000AD PROG 1789

Posted by montoc1701 on June 26, 2012

The latest Prog features Judge Dredd, Durham Red, Tharg’s Thrillers, Ichabod Azrael and Nikolai Dante. The stories cover mutants, cloaked ships, Al Capone and a pre wedding slaughter.

We take a look at the latest 2000AD and see what is in store this time. Things kick off with Judge Dredd in The Days After. This is set a few days after the chaos that killed three hundred and forty-seven million residents of Mega City One. The Judges are trying to get things back to normal and we see some old familiar faces returning to help with the clean up. This is a great jumping on point for new readers.

We find Durham Red catching up with her target when another team tries to get there first. Can Red hold her blood thirst long enough to get out “alive”? This story has good art and non stop action. Next up is Thargs Thrillers… 1947 an excellent start to a new story that has it all. Fans of conspiracy, espionage and the space race will love it. The script is top smart and quick.

Ichabod Azrael is a curious segment that starts in World War 1 in the trenches and moves to Chicago in the 20’s. I will look forward to seeing where this goes. Some striking art also brings the characters to life on this one.

Finally Nikolai Dante is on a  daring pre wedding raid that could end in a game of life and death with his future father in law. Great fun and lovely art.
