Not One, Not Two But THREE Avatar sequels?

Posted by montoc1701 on June 27, 2012

A leading cast member confirms that the “King of the world” James Cameron is going to film 3 sequels all at once. Could this start a new trend in Hollywood that ties up actors for 2 years at a time?

So while talking to Showbiz411 Sigourney Weaver confirmed they are filming 3 sequels all back to back.

When “Political Animals” finishes shooting, see if you can follow Weaver’s schedule: she goes right into a new Christopher Durang play for a short run at Lincoln Center. Then she films “Avatar” 2, 3, and 4 with James Cameron. That’s right: they’re making three sequels to the blue 3D phenom all at the same time. Weaver says she has no idea how long it will take, or how it’s going to work. “I just show up,” she said.

Now I enjoyed Avatar as a stand alone movie but I did not rave about it as being the next evolution in cinema as some did. The story was weak and the acting was OK. Yes the effects were good but is there really a story for three more films.

James Cameron has said he wants to switch the action to other parts of the Pandora systems like the water moon so that could be kinda cool. Well I guess we will have to wait to at least 2018 for Avatar 4 then. YAWN……

Sounds like a tremendous risk, but I suppose it’s their money to (potentially) burn.
