Orphan Black, a New Series from the BBC

Get ready for #SupernaturalSaturday from BBC America, as it orders new sci-fi series Orphan Black to run alongside Being Human & Doctor Who in its prime time Saturday viewing slot.
Joining forces with Bell Media’s SPACE (Canada’s national science fiction, horror and fantasy channel) on this new original sci-fi series, BBC America will be working with creators Graeme Manson (Flashpoint) and John Fawcett (Spartacus) on this exciting new show. That’s some pedigree.
Orphan Black follows outsider, orphan and street-wise chameleon Sarah. After witnessing a woman’s suicide, Sarah assumes the strangers identity – who happens to look just like her. Expecting to solve all her problems by cleaning out the dead woman’s savings, Sarah is instead thrust headlong into a kaleidoscopic mystery as she realizes the dizzying truth – she and the dead woman are clones. As Sarah searches for answers, she discovers the chilling fact that there are more people like her out there – genetically identical individuals who were planted in unsuspecting birth parents and nurtured in completely different circumstances. With no idea who created the clones, she’ll need to discover the reason in a hurry as an assassin is killing them one by one. The series will premiere in the US as part of BBC AMERICA’S Supernatural Saturdays programming block.

Delivering ten 60 minute episodes, creator Manson will be writing alongside co-creator Fawcett as director, with production set to begin in Toronto this winter. It is expected to arrive on the BBC in the UK after its US transmission in 2013.
