WEB SERIES REVIEW: Collider, Episodes 1-8

At Geek Syndicate, we are always looking out for projects that have that extra something and Collider has it. Collider is a multi media project that covers film, graphic novels, games, apps and webisodes – all of which make up the world of Collider.
So what’s it all about? It has a simple premise: six people are transported to a post-apocalyptic 2018 but all six are from different time periods. Peter Ansay is from 2012 and we follow him in the webisodes while the others are from the other times – 2014, 2016 and beyond. They “find themselves involved in a race against time to find a way to get back to the present and save mankind – and their own lives”. The project covers various aspects of the whole story through these different mediums.
As we mentioned, the webisodes focus on Peter who’s played by Iain Robertson. He lives in 2012 and was fired from CERN because of his findings on the Large Hadron Collider (hence the project name). Peter is worried that when it turns on it will create a terrible side effect that will destroy the world. During the eight episodes he tries to contact various people to persuade them of the danger but it seems that CERN have done a good job of blacklisting him so no one will take him seriously. These episodes lead up the main story but they also leave some intriguing clues to the full plot of the project.
Iain Robertson does a convincing job of a man determined but full of doubt as well. Will anyone believe him and can he stop the event from happening? The series is written by Catriona Scott, directed by Nuno Bernardo and at just under 4 minutes for each one are a perfect entry point into the bigger Collider world.
You can find the first webisode HERE and then follow the links to the other 7.
We will also be looking at the larger Collider universe across the game and comics to see how it grows but for now this is a great start to what looks like a really inventive way of using multimedia to tell a story.
