GS EVENT: The Expendables 2 Red Carpet Report
Posted by montoc1701 on August 15, 2012
Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) returns with Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) – with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan), the first female Expendable, aboard.
Barney’s band of old-school mercenaries are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time. But that’s nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother. That is done the Expendables way…
The first to arrive was new cast member British born Scott Adkins who plays Hector, one of Jean-Claude Van Damme’s henchmen. As one of the youngest members of the cast Scott felt privileged to be joining such an established group of actors. “My first day on set I was surrounded Van Damme, Stallone, Schwarzenegger and Jason,” explained Scott. “It was great but I knew I deserved to be there because they asked me so I was doing my job but it was so great to be there.”
Next up was producer Avi Lerner who gave us a few ideas about who he wanted for a next instalment. “We have been talking to Eastwood and also Harrison Ford so we will see.”
Lerner also revealed that the secret to getting these actors to sign on the dotted line came down to the part they were being offered. “We just needed to give them the right part and work with them to see what fits and oh yeah we pay them!”
Other stars to arrive were Arnold Schwarzenegger who rushed to sign as may autographs as possible, Jason Statham who happily posed with fans and also Sylvester Stallone who also wrote the screenplay. Then Dolph Lundgren turned up to show that he really is as tall as you think.
The final and hardest working man on the red carpet was, without a doubt, Jean-Claude Van Damme who was excited about working his fellow action hero alumni. “I dreamed of just working with one of these guys. I was always chasing them in their movies and then I get the chance to be in a film with all of them, it was amazing”.
Another treat were a small group of Royal Marine Commando’s who got in on the action and posed for pictures with the cast.
Overall the cast turned up in style and en masse to everyone’s delight and the rain also held off long enough to be a great evening.
The film comes out in the UK on 16th August. Check out Geek Syndicate’s review HERE
