According to Deadline ABC has ordered a pilot for a S.H.I.E.L.D TV series based around the organisation run by Nick Fury and is one of biggest players in Marvel comics and the films.

Joss Whedon is onboard to direct the pilot. He will also be co-writing the script with Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen.

This is great news but I’m not too surprised as I reckoned that S.H.I.E.L.D would lend itself well to the small screen. I wonder though if this will be the same case that Smallville had with Batman as in that because you got films in development for Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Hulk that we won’t be seeing any of those character being mentioned, let alone showing up in the show. The other big question is will we get to see Nick Fury in this or will be be someone who is just mention but never seen?

Whatever happens I’ll be looking forward to checking out the pilot for this one and keeping my fingers crossed that it goes to series.
