Autumn of Indie: The Roller Grrrls Sketchbook

Posted by geeksyndicate on September 7, 2012

One of the new fixtures I’ve started to see at UK comic conventions in the past couple of years has been the girls from the Roller Derby circuit. I thought it was only a matter of time before someone within the circuit decided to merge the Roller Derby scene within the pages of a comic and thanks to the Roller Grrrls Collective that is happening right now.

Roller Grrrls is a new comic magazine on the way that is created, written and published by Anna Malady and Gary Erskine. The Roller Grrrls sketchbook is the first step towards the magazine containing 52  magazine sized pages of Roller Derby goodness which will  include the following -

  • Sketches
  • Designs
  • Pencils
  • Lineart
  • Full colour covers
  • behind the Scenes vignettes

There is also work in progress previews of the characters and photos of the Roller Grrrls on tour as well as shirt designs and posters done for the UK teams and Online shops! This is the first release from the Roller Grrrls Collective (which includes Yel Zamor on colour and Abby Ryder on Lil Rollers) and it looks like they’ve packed a lot of stuff into the sketchbook!

You can order your copy of the magazine by emailing orders_rollergrrrls@hotmail.com Details of postage will be included in the reply.

Check out some of the images from the sketchbook below.
