Lucy Lawless Honors Spartacus Co-Star at Stand Up To Cancer
Posted by Sharlene Mousfar on September 7, 2012
If you watched Starz’s Spartacus: Blood and Sand from the beginning, you knew who Andy Whitfield was – the Welsh Australian actor playing the lead role. But in 2011, Whitfield became more widely known to those who didn’t watch the show as the actor lost his battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma on September 11th, 2011.
He is lovingly remembered by both the cast and crew of the hit STARZ series and honored by co-star Lucy Lawless in a PSA for “Stand Up To Cancer” which you can watch HERE.
“Be Here Now” is the inspiring documentary about Andy’s fight with the vicious disease which was funded via a Kickstarter campaign. His co-star, Manu Bennett was wearing a shirt bearing the phrase (which was a tattoo on Andy’s forearm) at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con and you can watch the interview here.
Stand Up To Cancer is charitable organization that raises funds to hasten the pace of groundbreaking translational research that can get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives. For more information, please go to standup2cancer.org.
