Valve Working on PC Gaming Hardware
Posted by Soulfinger on September 7, 2012
Following months of speculation that Valve the gaming giants behind the likes of Half Life 2, Counter Strike and the Steam gaming platform were working on PC hardware with names like the Steambox being used in the media, it has now been revealed to be the case through a job listing on Valves website
The listing on Valves website is for an industrial designer. Imagining what that designer would be working was made easier by these comments from valve.
“Valve is traditionally a software company. Open platforms like the PC and Mac are important to us, as they enable us and our partners to have a robust and direct relationship with customers. We’re frustrated by the lack of innovation in the computer hardware space though, so we’re jumping in. Even basic input, the keyboard and mouse, haven’t really changed in any meaningful way over the years. There’s a real void in the marketplace, and opportunities to create compelling user experiences are being overlooked.”
Valve hasn’t confirmed any specific details or plans for the system but I’m sure we will hear more about it in 2013.
