The CW Goes Sci-Fi With Two New Pilots

Posted by Mirjana on January 31, 2013

CW LogoA network known for hits like The Vampire Diaries and Arrow, The CW has ordered production of two new sci-fi pilots entitled The Hundred and Oxygen.

Go behind the jump to read a bit about each concept.

The Hundred is based on an upcoming book series written by Kass Morgan, and is set in a post-apocalyptic landscape. It’s nearly 100 years since nuclear war ended life on the planet as we know it, and all surviving humans are living on a spaceship.  The Hundred are a group of 100 juvenile delinquents that the survivors decide to send back to Earth to investigate the possibility of re-populating the planet.

The second pilot, entitled Oxygen, deals with the high school romance between a human girl and an alien boy. The boy is part of a group of 9 aliens that came to Earth and were immediately placed into an internment camp. The romance bit comes when the 9 aliens are integrated into a human high school following their release from the camp. This pilot will be penned by Meredith Averill, who writes Good Wife.

It’s interesting to note that the Oxygen pilot has already generated some chatter due to plot similarities to Roswell, another show that aired on The CW back when it was known as WB Network. Even so, I tend to enjoy The CW’s shows, so I will definitely be checking these two out!
