We now appear to have a new dynamic established. Ian and Barbara no longer appear to be guests but regular time travellers as much as The Doctor and Susan1. Just as in the previous episode, the fear of the situation is helping them gel together as a team.

Whilst the title may explicitly refer to the actual forest our time travellers enter, I wonder if it also could be said to be referring to the key narrative turning point. Up until this point The Doctor and Susan have had much to fear from humans and trust is in short supply.

A reasonably interesting sequel, combining politics with heart. It does not really manage to distinguish itself significantly in a crowded field but builds nicely on the ideas in the first book. If you enjoy your robots in love you can certainly do worse.
