Andy Diggle Leaves Action Comics

2940293-2913303_ac_19_preview_5Andy Diggle took to twitter yesterday to announce he’s leaving Action Comics after just one issue.

In a series of tweets he confirmed that he’ll be leaving the title immediately.  They read as follows.

“Sadly, I’ve decided to walk away from Action Comics for professional reasons.

It was the toughest decision I’ve ever had to make, especially with Superman’s 75th anniversary and Man of Steel on the horizon.

But it was the right decision. No regrets. Onwards!

Sincere thanks to Matt Idelson for inviting me to follow Grant Morrison on Action Comics. I hope we still get to work together someday.

Thank you to all the fans who’ve expressed their enthusiasm in anticipation of my run.

I wish nothing but the best of luck to whichever new creative team picks up the red boots and cape.”

We’re not going to speculate on reasons why he decided to leave, we’ll just say this: we are very sad we won’t get the chance to see Mr Diggle take on the man in tights.

We wish him all the best, not that he needs it. He’s a very busy man, with Doctor Who for IDW, Snapshot (Image), Thief of Thieves (Skybound) and Uncanny (dynamite) all on the go.

Go pick up Snapshot. We’re loving that series at the moment, plus it reunites Diggle with jock on art duties. It’s a cracking read!
