Cardiff International Comic & Animation Expo Announce More Guests and News

The first year of the Cardiff International Comic & Animation Expo got 2011 off to a great start with a fantastic event for the newest con on the block however it’s second year is looking like it’s going to bigger and better.

This week more annoucments have come down on high from the organisers of the show onto the con’s website. Some of the new includes even MORE guests, small press and a new horror spotlight with five new titles debuting at the event. The first thing that stuck me was the news that for the 2012  the convention has expanded onto a third floor.

Some of the guest attending the show due to take place 25th -26th Feb at Holland House Mercure Cardiff include Mike Ploog, John Higgins, Mick Mcmahon, John M Burns (on hand to help celebrate 2000ad’s 35th anniversary), Gary Erskine, Jim Alexander, Rob Williams, Robin Furth and many many more.

The show also promises more dealers than last year and a special small press showcase.

On the launch front there are several launches happening during the weekend.  Into the woods headed up by the Small Press power house that is Stacey Whittle is one of the launches and features some top notch indie talent.

A Fairy Tale Anthology is edited by Stacey Whittle and showcases some of the best small press and indie talent on the scene.
Contibutors include: Lee Robson, Simon Wyatt, Valia Kapadai,Rich McAuliffe,Alice Duke, Matt Gibbs, Daniel Clifford,David Wynne and many more
Rich McAuliffe wearing his second launch hat will also be on hand to reduce all to quivering wrecks with Damaged Goods which I read and loved a while back. By loved I mean woken up in the dead of night screaming as I remembered in terror the clown tale in this grisly horror anthology. Definitely worth a look see.

Classical Comics will also be launching their adaptation of everyone’s cut throat barber Sweeney Tood and the 2011 sell out 10THology graphic novel returns with Vol 2.

If all of that wasn’t enough Colin ‘Dr Who’ Baker and Dr Who novelist Gary Russell will also be appearing at the event. Trust me there is a lot more going on so head over to the CICAE website to see everything that’s happening. Tickets are selling well so if you want your get in there soon. There was a great vibe at the con last year and I think with things set to grow again this year we are looking at another Thought Bubble but at the beginning, rather than the end of the year.

2012 is going to be one busy convention season that’s for sure!
