So once again a Birmingham based comic con comes a knocking and the question is will you answer?

For the past few years, around September/October, we have been treated to the British International Comic Show. However BICS fans wept their tears of disappointment when it was announced that the fantastic two-day event was to be cancelled for 2011. Rather than let fans of the con down the team behind BICS have now decided to put on a one and half day comic convention in Birmingham this weekend.

The Birmingham Comic Con 2011 will be held on the 27th August at the Holiday Inn, Birmingham City Centre. Some of the major guests in attendance include Mark Millar, Doug Braithwaite, Dave Gibbons,Ian Churchill, Alan Davis,Tony Lee, Dan Boultwood, Emma Vieceli, Mark Farmer, Chris Spouse and many more.

In honor of this newest con on the block we will be giving you info/news each day on the run up to the convention.

Friday Night Launch Party

Anyone who has attend a comic convention will know that drinking/socialising is high up on the list of things to do and the Birmingham Con is no exception. To kick off the convention in style a fancy launch party is being thrown at the Wu Wu cocktail bar.

The exclusive Friday Night launch party will take place at the Wu Wu cocktail bar (part of the Oceana night club complex) situated just a minute away from the Holiday Inn convention hotel. Oceana, Hurst Street, Birmingham, B5 4EH. For directions please click here.

Doors open at 7.30pm, party goers can kick off their convention weekend in style in the relaxed surroundings of the newly refurbished cruise liner themed Wu Wu cocktail bar. Your party ticket includes a lavish buffet, with choices from Indian, Italian and traditional cuisine. Food will be served at 8.30pm.

VIP ticket holders will have the opportunity to meet, greet and get their stuff signed early by some of the headline guests. They will  also get their grubby mitts on a VIP goodie bag which includes some limited Tom Strong artwork which will only be available at the convention.
