Countdown to Bristol International Comic & Small Press Expo 2010 – Day 15 ‘SFX Brings Comic Heroes to the Con’

Well now I can officially say woo hoo!!! as it is in fact a week until Bristol and by this time next Saturday night god knows what number whisky I’ll be on! Anyway onto today’s countdown and I’ve chosen to mention that the team from SFX will be there promoting their new sister mag Comic Heroes.

I’ve not seen a single page of the new magazine so I’m hoping there will be some copies there for me to take a look at. So far I know one person who’s picked up a copy and they loved it so that’s fuelled my desire to check it even more. If it’s half as good as the main SFX magazine then it should make some quality reading.

Below are some of the features you can find in first issue of the magazine.

  • It comes in a glossy, special wallet containing the mag itself and a bunch of free gifts: an exclusive set of2000AD fridge magnets not available anywhere else, featuring such characters as Judge Dredd, Nikolai Dante, The Mighty Tharg, Hammerstein and more; a giant double-sided poster featuring Grant Morrison’s Batman and American Vampire; and a free Marvel comic (there are various titles available so it’s a bit of a luck dip what you’ll get!)
  • There’s a special preview of Iron Man 2, including interviews with Robert Downey Jr, director Jon Favreau and Scarlett Johansson.
  • Five pages from the upcoming DC release, Superman: Secret Origin.
  • Interviews with the stars and filmmakers behind Kick Ass, plus an interview with John Romita Jr, the artist on the Kick Ass comic.
  • Your handy guide to the DC universe – all that confusing continuity unravelled.
  • A beginner’s guide to Bande Dessinée (that’s French comics)
  • A look back at Tintin.
  • Interview with an exciting new voice in British comics, Al Ewing.
  • Superheroes in computer games.
  • A gallery of the art of BPRD artist Guy Davis, and an interview with the man himself.
  • The making of Superman The Movie.
  • How to write comics – the professional give their tips.
  • A spotlight on Hellblazer.
  • A a while load more, including a regular opinion column from comics industry stalwart Dez Skinn, a preview of the Bristol Comics Expo and a look at all the superhero movies coming your way this year.

See you tomorrow!
