I’ll put my hand up now and admit that I’ve never read a single issue of All-Star Superman by Grant Morrison and Frank Quietly but I’ve heard nothing but good things about it.

I’m sure fans of the comic will already now that  Warner Bros. Animation has now picked the comic to be the latest adaptation for it’s straight to DVD range animated movies.

The big news of the last few days is some of the casting that has been announced. In what seems,to be the norm now Warner Bros. has brought in some well know names to lend their voices to the main parts.

Written by Grant Morrison and drawn by Frank Quitely, the story begins with the Man of Steel (Denton) oversaturated by radiation during a rescue mission near the sun, accelerating the degeneration of his cells. Knowing that he has a limited time before he dies, Superman sets out on a journey that sees him revealing his secret to Lois Lane (Hendricks), giving Lex Luthor (LaPaglia) an epiphany on humanity and ensuring the safety of Earth for when he is gone.

Also in the cast are Ed Asner as Perry White and Frances Conroy as Ma Kent along with Linda Cardellini, Arnold Vosloo and Matthew Gray Gubler.

Personally I’m not too bothered about this ‘all-star’ casting news. I’m sure they’ll be good and all that but If I had my way the line up would be Tim Daly as Superman, Clancy Brown as Lex and Dana Delany as Lois Lane from the Superman – The Animated Series.

The other thing I’d like to see is Warner Bros use the same voice actors for each animated film. It just helps me get into the film more when the Superman from The New Frontier, Superman Public Enemies and All Star Superman are all voiced by the same actor, whoever that may be.
