Lakes International Comic Art Festival Announces Guests

internationalcomicartfestivalSome big name guests have been announced for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival this October! The festival already has some well known Patrons in the form of Sean Phillips (Criminal, Fatale), Bryan Talbot (Grandville) and Mary Talbot (Dotter of Her Fathers Eyes)

The event is going to have over 40 guests from the world of comics and it’s modelled on the European style art festivals, so we’ll get loads of talks and events to keep us busy during the festival.

But to the important bit…WHO’S COMING? Have a look below and prepare to be excited.

American writer Ed Brubaker, famed for his Criminal and Fatale series with Sean Phillips will be there (as will Sean, since he’s a patron and all).

Legendary artist Jose Muñoz creator of the Alack Sinner series has been confirmed. Fun fact for you, his artwork also inspired Frank Miller’s Sin City.

Writer & cartoonist Joe Sacco is also attending. His political cartoons have shed light on the complex situations in Gaza and Palestine, so any talk with him will be one to note down in the diary.

Judge Dredd co-creators John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra will be there too! Big one for you 2000AD fans out there.

Posy Simmonds has also been announced and we are very excited about this one. She created the Gemma Bovery and Tamara Drew comics. She is a brilliant satirist.

Glyn Dillon creator of the beautiful Nao Brown will be there as will Jon McNaught (Automne), both of them have recently won prestigious awards at the biggest comic art festival in Angouleme.

One of our favourite artists Doug Braithwaite is another impressive name on the list. He has a huge list of credits to his name (Marvel, DC, 2000AD) but we particularly loved his work on Journey Into Mystery.

And last but certainly not least writer Andy Diggle has also been confirmed. We love his collaborations with artist Jock on The Losers and their new creator owned series Snapshot.

Wow, quite a line up already isn’t it? Keep an eye on their website for more details and announcements. Tickets go on sale for the event in May.

We’ll be first in line!
