Stop…Hammertime! Thor gets his own series

thorMarvel are on the ball and working non stop to promote their properties.  Marvel have alwasy been particularly good at the marketing game and getting their characters of the page and they are continuing apace with Thor.  We know that the live action movie Thor is slated for our screens in 2010, well later that year Marvel are aiming to put out a 26 episode animated Thor series.  It looks like it’s going to fantasy based with Thor defending Asgard.

It appears that Marvel are looking at following each movie with an animation as Eric Rollman, Marvels head of animation says,  they want to

“offer a continued awareness in the marketplace.” It already is in production on cartoon series “The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes,” which will be available for broadcast in 2011, in time for Marvel Studios’ releases of the live-action “The First Avenger: Captain America” and “The Avengers.”

To be honest it doesn’t excite me a lot but thats because Thor doesn’t excite me a lot (apart from in the Ultimates and the new Thor series by J Michael Stracynski) but I’m so impressed by Marvel’s strategy at the moment.
