Comic Review -The Scorpion 1. The Devil’s Mark

I had my first exposure to European comics with Largo Winch which I picked up at the Brum con last year and loved it. At the Bristol con I picked up another two Largo Winch trades and the first trade of The Scorpion, this trade was called The Devil’s Mark.

In short I bloody loved this comic. What you had was a swashbuckling adventurer who makes his living uncovering lost artefacts and selling them to the highest bidder. The main character is like a cross between, errol flynn,a muskerteer , indiana jones and a dash of han solo. His sidekick kind of reminded me of Sallah but the Sallah from Raiders of the Lost Ark not the comic relief he became in Last Crusade.

This comic had everything – cliffhangers, sword play, colourful villains, a great plot and some fantastic one liners that are as quick as the Scorpion’s blade.
My only gripe was that the book ended on a huge cliffhanger and me screaming no and shaking my fist at the comic. I’ll definitely be picking up the next two issues of this comic.
