AUTUMN OF INDIE: Elevator Pitch – Feature Your Indie Project on Geek Syndicate

If you’re heading to the Thought Bubble Festival or some of the other upcoming conventions to sell/pimp your indie wares then we here at Geek Syndicate would like to hear from you.

As some of you may know we are currently running our Autumn of Indie campaign to shine a light on all the fantastic and sometimes unsung projects that are going on in the indie scene all over the world. The campaign is set to end with the two-day comic convention which forms part of the Thought Bubble Festival.

We have done features, reviews and interviews as part of the campaign but now we want to give you, the indie creators, a platform to shout about your projects.  How this will work is this: in the Geek Syndicate Magazine we have a section called ‘Elevator Pitch’ where creators pitch their indie titles to the world. All we ask for are:

  1. The details of the indie project
  2. Where people can get hold of it
  3. Get the creator(s) to answer a simple few questions as part of their pitch. The questions are What is your comic/ film/book/etc?  and Why Should We Pick This Up? In the tradition of the classic elevator pitch, we ask for the answers to be short and sweet.
  4. The creator(s)  also has the option or sending a  preview of their project which we will run alongside their pitch. This can be four to five pages of art, an audio drama sample, a prose chapter or a film trailer we leave that up to you.

Any pitches sent in will be included on the site and a selection of those we really enjoy will be in the next issue of the Geek Syndicate Magazine which is out at the beginning of November.  We especially want to hear from creators/exhibitors attending the Thought Bubble Festival, MCM Expo, New York Comic Con or Cardiff Comic Expo Showcase.

If you’re interested in taking part, get in touch with us at [email protected]. Please note that we will be taking submissions up to the November 16th when the Autumn of Indie Campaign ends.

However to stand a chance at being included in the Geek Syndicate magazine we would need your pitches with us by no later than October 18th. Below is an example Elevator Pitch to get you started:

What is The Scarifyers?
The Ghostbusters… in tweed. Adapted from the BBC Radio 4 Extra series, The Scarifyers is a rip-roaring tale of comedic supernatural intrigue set in 1930s Britain, distilling the likes of Dick Barton, The Devil Rides Out and Quatermass into a cracking new adventure.

Why Should We Pick This Up?
Forbidden Planet International Blog: “Executed with style, expertly written, full of great characters, sparkling dialogue, and some quite magnificent artwork… I loved it.”
Comics Bulletin: “A very British mix of class satire, supernatural drama, secret societies and clever dialogue, combined with some nicely creative art.”
Comic Bits Online: “The UKs “edgier” counterparts of Blake & Mortimer… oozes Britishness and I can only recommend this highly.”
Shiny Shelf: “A Wheatley-esque period horror adventure story with a pleasingly light, humorous touch… Seek it out.”
Mass Movement Magazine: “One of the strongest opening chapters that it’s been my pleasure to read in more than three decades of comic devotion.”
