Free Course – Gender Through Comics!

genderthroughcomicsFancy yourself as a bit or a scholar? Love all things comics? Well we have some great news for you. Ball State University is holding a FREE online course this April studying Gender Through Comics.

The course is going to look at how comic books can be used to “questions of gender identity, stereotypes and roles.”

This programme will be led by Christina Blanch who specialises in women’s studies and has a huge knowledge and passion for comic books.

Here comes the exciting bit! The course will contain a series of highly interactive video lectures and interviews with some of comics biggest heavyweights, including Gail Simone, Mark Waid, Terry Moore, Scott Snyder, Brian K. Vaughan, Matt Fraction and Brian Bendis to name a few.

There’s a great teaser video on the site, with a voice-over from someone special….see if you can figure out who.

The course is scheduled to start on April 2nd this year and it will run until May 10th. So check your calendars!

You can watch the video and enrol here. We’ll be signing up and letting you know our thoughts so keep your eyes peeled from April 2nd!
