NYCC 2013: Outlander Interviews

While at New York Comic Con, we had the pleasure of speaking with the creators Ronald D. Moore (TV series) and Diana Gabaldon (novels) of Starz’s newest venture, Outlander. Personally, I’ve been a huge fan of the novels and when I heard that the books were coming to life, I was extremely excited. If you don’t know much about the story, it goes a like this: Claire Randall is a combat nurse on her honeymoon in the Scottish Highlands in 1945 who accidentally enters a stone circle and time-travels back to 1743.

Stranded in the past with seemingly no way home, she must navigate this new-old world and to protect herself, she is forced to marry a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, Jamie Fraser. While at first it is a marriage of necessity, it soon turns into a passionate love affair where Claire eventually must choose between her previous love and her newfound happiness.

Executive Producer and Writer Ronald D. Moore and author Diana Gabaldon talked about how difficult it was to cast their Claire & Jamie, what we can expect of the series and much more. Outlander will begin airing in Summer 2014 on Starz in the US, with no UK airdate quite yet.
