SDCC 2013: CW’s Beauty & The Beast and Star-Crossed

The CW brought many of their shows to the annual comic convention in San Diego and the first two casts we had a chance to chat with were the folks from the People’s Choice Award-winning Beauty and the Beast, starring Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan as well as newbie series Star-Crossed, starring Aimee Teegarden, Matt Lanter and Grey Damon.

For fans of Beauty and the Beast, finding out the show was getting a second season was amazing! If you’ve never seen it, the series, loosely based on the 1987 CBS series follows Detective Catherine Chandler, a witness to her mother’s murder, who is saved by a supposed beast. Turns out that the “beast” is Vincent Keller, an ex-soldier believed to be killed in action.

As they get to know each other, information about her mother’s murder, who (and what) Vincent really is comes to light and they eventually fall in love. Executive producers Jennifer Levin and Sherri Cooper joined stars Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan to talk about what’s coming up for the show and how they finally found the genres to focus on, mythology and romance, thanks to the Beasties on Twitter!

Second up was the CW’s new (give or take) upcoming series, Star-Crossed about a romance between a human girl and an alien boy when he and eight others of his kind are integrated into a suburban high school. Wait – does that sound familiar to you Roswellians? Time will only tell if this new take on the human/alien love connection will be a successful the second time around.
