Bryan Singer will direct a Battlestar Galactica movie

A story over on the Variety website confirms the rumours that not only was a BSG movie on the horizon bu that it would be helmed by Bryan Singer.

Universal Pictures is rushing to get this film made (no doubt to make the most of the hype from the series) and Singer is rumoured to have been over a 10 million paycheck to sign on.

Ronald Moore who was the head man behind the rebooted TV show has not been mentioned as being attached to the project in anyway. I’m not sure how I feel about this news yet it kind of came out of left field. Given how neatly the TV show tied up it’s loose ends and gave us all a definitive ending I’m not sure what new concepts a movie can bring to the story.

Will the cast from the TV show repise their roles? will Ronald Moore get any inout into the movie or will this be a whole new take on the story yet again, a reboot of a reboot?

I’m sure there are a lot of BSG fans out there eager to here the answers to these and a hundred other questions surrounding this news?

The positive that I take from this story is that slowly, thanks to films like Star Trek and Moon, Hollywood is turning it’s gaze back towards outer space and I’m hoping this trend will continue.
