Captain America has a director

The Marvel Masterplan continues and I think Barry’s gonna like this one.  The latest film in the slew of Marvel movies, that we all know are leading up to what promises to be an amazing Avengers blowout is Captain America.

There are no writers on board yet but personally the choice of Joe Johnston inspires me with confidence. Why? Well Marvels, Kevin Feige says it better than me-

“This is a guy who designed the vehicles for ‘Star Wars,’ who storyboarded the convoy action sequence for ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark,’ ” Feige said. “From ‘Rocketeer’ to ‘October Sky’ to ‘The Wolfman,’ you can look at pieces of his movies and see how they lead to this one.”

Apparently general talks with Johnston have been going on for two years.

Captain America” will be a World War II-set movie, and the character will appear in the modern day-set “Avengers

So if that inspires you, its time to put May 6th, 2011 in your diary because thats when its due.  That’s 2 and a bit years, people, dammit – I hate when I get all excited and then realise how long I’ve got to wait.

Well before that we have the Thor movie in 2010 so that’ll keep things ticking over.
