Cast of the Titans

Over at Yahoo they’ve reported some casting news on the upcoming Clash of the Titans remake, which is being directed by Louis Leterrier.

Mads Mikklsen (the bad bloke with the dodgy eye from Casino Royale) has been signed to play a skilled fighter and leader of the Praetorian Guard that accompanies Perseus. I thought old Mads was a great villan in Casino and I think he could really work in a badass action role.

French actress Alexa Davalos is Andromeda, the captured princess Andromeda. I haven’t seen her in anything that I remember so don’t know what to expect. ..Oh apparently she was in chronicles of Riddick..hmm don’t remember her.

Gemma Arterton also a refeguee from the Bond movies (Quantum of Solace) will play Io who is according to the blrub ‘is instrumental in bringing the winged horse Pegasus to Perseus’. I have to say to me that has ‘bit part’ written all over it. I can see the scene now.

  • The following exchange has been translated from ancient Greek.

Io: “Here’s the winged horse Pegasus”*

Perseus “Cheers Love”*

Io: “Bye then!”*

Perseus “Bye love!”*

The plot of the movie revolves around Sam Worthington  as ‘Perseus, who embarks on a quest to save a princess and defeat Hades, the god of hell’.  At the moment it sounds very similar in concept to the orginal movie(Which I loved as a kid) although there was no Hell or Hades.

As a rule I don’t like the idea of remakes but once they start production to tend to stop bitching and starting thinking about how they can tackle it and will it be any good.  At the moment I’m cautiously optimistic and with LOTR a distant memory it would be nice to have a good Swords and Sorcery epic to check out.

My only question now is will the remake have bubo the owl?

bubo2

No I'm not a cheap R2D2 knock off!

The remake was complete crap. They only showed Bubo for a maximum of 5 seconds. It was just, plain bad.

After Bubo’s tiny cameo during Clash of the Titans I had to explain to my friend why I laughed when Perseus was told to leave it. I told her that the owl was in the original and that it was Perseus’ R2D2. I’m glad that I wasn’t the only one who thought that!
