marvel-logo1Whether it’s Fox, Sony or the Marvel stable themselves, here are the world-wide mutterings!

Avengers: Age of Ultron: Joss Whedon has cast the voice of Ultron – the robotic villain who will face off against our heroes in 2015′s sequel, Avengers: Age Of Ultron. Initial rumours had been that Vin Diesel, who had voiced The Iron Giant, would get the gig. But now it’s been confirmed that Stargate‘s James Spader. In actual fact. Marvel hasn’t yet confirmed whether Spader will be putting in a motion-capture performance or just voicing the character. Director Joss Whedon said: “As a character I love [Ultron], because he’s so pissed off. I knew right away what I wanted to do with him.” Whedon added: “He’s always trying to destroy the Avengers, goddamn it, he’s got a bee in his bonnet. He’s not a happy guy, which means he’s an interesting guy. He’s got pain. And the way that manifests is not going to be standard robot stuff. So we’ll take away some of those powers because at some point everybody becomes magic, and I already have someone [a new character, Scarlet Witch] who’s a witch.”

Also to be confirmed is who Ultron’s maker will be. In the comic books it was Hank Pym, aka Ant-Man, but as his origin movie is still in early stages, Whedon confirmed that he will be altering the origin story to fit in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Speculation points the finger to Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr), as suggested in the animated Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow. But Iron Man 3 screenwriter Drew Pearce recently countered: “There are a hell of a lot of rumours, though. Ultron may be something that appears in Guardians Of The Galaxy, or it might appear in the Thor universe… I’ve read a lot of stuff online and I don’t think anyone has got close to the real plan yet.”

Guardians of the Galaxy: Following the recent announcement that Vin Diesel would voice Groot, the tree creature, Marvel have confirmed the casting of hungover, Limitless, A-Teamer, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Guardians Of The Galaxy‘s furry fighter Rocket Racoon. Director James Gunn tweeted the news, adding, “Yes, it’s true, Bradley Cooper is Rocket and I couldn’t be more stoked.” Incredible to think they are down in Surrey shooting scenes with Michael Rooker, and still casting the voices for the main characters!!!
