Suicide Squad set for the Silver Screen

suicide-squad-bombedbg-imgMy first thought was how surprising that Warner Bros. have gone for a team of villains as a movie concept but then I thought about it.  One villain won an oscar, well the actor won a posthumous oscar, The Secret Six, a comic by Gail Simone about a team of villain mercenaries has done very well. So maybe it’s not a surprise, villains seem to be in vogue at the moment.

The Suicide Squad first saw life in the pages of The Brave and The Bold in 1959 and featured a team of incarcerated villains coerced into tasks considered too dangerous for heroes, tasks for which expendable assets were needed. The Squad made a come back as Task Force X in 1986 in the pages of the mini series Legends, if anyone remembers that.

They also popped up in DC’s year long series 52, the cartoon Justice League Umlimited and were behind the events in DC’s event Salvation Run last year.

Dan Lin, the  executive producer of the upcoming Terminator Salvation movie is producing and has brought in Justin Marks (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Hack/Slash, Street Fighter) to write the script.

A bold move and challenging movew from Warner Brothers.  I think handled well this will be a fascinating movie, lets just hope Suicide is just the title of the movie and not a foretelling of Warner Bros investment in this film
