What’s In The Box? C’mon Man! What’s In The Box!?

[/Brad Pitt]

The Box is based off of Richard Matheson’s short story “Button, Button” and stars Cameron Diaz and James Marsden as a young couple who’ve hit skid row in 1976. They are approached by a disfigured man (Frank Langella) with a box and given a proposal. They will be given one million dollars if they just push the button in the box. The downside is that somewhere in the world, someone will die. The movie is directed by Richard Kelly (Donnie Darko) and scored by Canadian band The Arcade Fire. The movie will be released in the US Oct. 30th.

I’m glad Warner Bros. is stepping up to the plate and is actually putting something out close to Halloween. It got frustrating to see the Saw franchise just taking over the Halloween holiday box office. With that being said….

Really Warner Bros.?

This is the movie you’re going to pit against Saw?

Don’t get me wrong. I like the look of the movie. I’ll possibly try and catch this movie in a theater. In the context of the date it’s theatrically playing however…if Warner Bros. thinks this is going to beat Saw in the box office, they’re just kidding themselves.

Warner Bros pretty much did have something that could compete. A little movie called Trick ‘r Treat. A fun little omnibus film with big names behind it. Gained tons of positive views from advanced screenings. I wonder what happened to that movie?

Oh Yeah! It got pushed back to an “indefinite date” until the fans and critics started to bitch at WB for holding up so long and now, after two years on the shelf, fans will finally be able to see Trick ‘r Treat in October….on DVD.

Nice to see where their priorities lie.

The movie is scored by the Arcade Fire. And it has James Marsden. I’m sold.

And thanks for pointing it out!
