Radio Static to Launch Kickstarter for ‘Minister of Chance’ Movie

Not content with having a fantastic audio drama under their belt with the Sci-Fi fantasy series The Minister of Chance the Radio Static team are now turning their attention towards the big screen.

On 1St October the team will be launching a Kickstarter campaign to finance a movie version of The Minister of Chance. There was no information in the press release so I’m interested to see if this will be a straight adaptation of the five part audio drama series or a new tale.

I’ll be keeping one eye on this while crossing my fingers that they can pull this off. The audio drama was fantastic with one hell of genre cast, many of whom I hope will pop up in the movie, if it happens. The team have already put together a teaser film starring Paul McGann.

In October/November 2013 we shot The Prologue, a teaser to promote the movie and to introduce the character of Durian (Paul McGann). It’s success spurred us on to make the full feature.

If you are a fan of audio dramas like Lord of the Rings and the Dr Who audio stories from Big Finish then I would recommend you check out The Minister of Chance.

Check out the press release for all the information on the impending Kickstarter.

The Minister of Chance Movie is Coming!

The movie version of the groundbreaking fantasy series THE MINISTER OF CHANCE is on its way. From 1-31st October, a campaign will run on Kickstarter to finance the movie by offering unique rewards to donors in return for funding. Fans, businesses and enthusiasts will be able to sponsor the making of costumes, weapons and other props, then own them after they are used in the film as a valuable piece of memorabilia.

The movie began unusually as an audio series, with the first episode released free on the internet as a podcast. Its amazing success meant that fans from across the World funded a further five episodes to complete the series, with Philip Glenister and Jed Brophy joining the cast at their own request in Episode 5. The stellar cast of the film includes Jenny Agutter O.B.E, Jed Brophy, Lauren Crace, Tamsin Greig, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann and Julian Wadham.

The movie will be shot mainly in Cheshire, UK, home of the production team and famous for its stately homes, castles and lush landscape. Local businesses and employers will be able to sponsor transport, accommodation and meals for the cast. The production team hope that the film will boost tourism to the places used in the film, and a Sci-Fi convention for fans from across the World is being planned in Cheshire for next year.
