Wonder Woman Blu-Ray and DVD Details Released

Wonder Woman Blu-RayWonder Woman is coming to a variety of formats and DC Entertainment has given a break down of the extras so you can choose the best format for you.

It is safe to say Wonder Woman is my favourite movie of the year.  I had such high hopes for it and it did not disappoint.  The second I walked out of the cinema I pre-ordered the Blu-Ray from a large internet retailer, despite the fact the pre-order did not have a release date nor any details about the extras.

Now DC Entertainment has released all the details and I’m going to take a look at the options with you all.

If you are out of the comic book/superhero loop here’s the official synopsis:

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

The Digital Download becomes available on the 25th September and 4K UHD, Blu-Ray, 3D Blu-Ray and DVD coming on the 9th October. Directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine (Kirk from Star Trek, not Captain America or Thor), this superhero film provides the hope and excitement that I feel the DC Cinematic Universe has been missing in recent years.

In the cinema, I found the film visually beautiful so getting it on Blu-Ray so I can watch it again in high definition is a must.  There is one significant difference between the extras on DVD compared with the other physical formats.

The DVD contains the following extras:

  • Crafting the Wonder
  • A Director’s Vision: Themyscira: The Hidden Island
  • A Director’s Vision: Beach Battle
  • A Director’s Vision: A Photograph Through Time
  • A Director’s Vision: Diana in the Modern World
  • A Director’s Vision: Wonder Woman at War
  • Warriors of Wonder Woman
  • The Trinity
  • The Wonder Behind the Camera
  • Finding the Wonder Woman Within
  • Extended Scenes
  • Blooper Reel

The 4K UHD, Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray contains, one more feature:

  • Epilogue: Etta’s Mission

Etta’s epilogue is described as:

Etta Candy gets the boys back together for a secret mission that could impact humanity’s future.

I am assuming this will tie in Wonder Woman’s team to the new Justice League film, due out in November.

While I am excited about watching this, as I felt Etta was underused and just played for comedic relief,  I do not know why this has been omitted from the DVD version. I am hoping that it is because this will be a chunky piece of narrative rather than a two-minute fluff piece.

If you haven’t seen Wonder Woman because Batman vs Superman and Suicide Squad put you off DC films, then I would pick up the DVD or digital edition.  However, if you liked the film and have the correct equipment I’d definitely go for the highest definition you can as it is a stunning film.
