Battle in a Rebel Galaxy

Developer Double Damage Games is producing a game that I’m glad I didn’t know about sooner. That may seem odd – but frankly, Rebel Galaxy looks like it has the potential to be a superb game. From the description and the trailer this looks like an open galaxy space adventure that puts you in command – not of a single seat fighter – but of a larger vessel!

The game had previously been announced for PC (via Steam) and Playstation 4, but the developer has just announced that the game will also be coming to Apple Mac and Xbox One. While I am a little wary of a game of such seeming complexity being released on consoles, a part of me is very excited. One of the problems I have with Elite: Dangerous is that I don’t have time to learn all the controls for all situations. But if a game is well implemented on consoles, then this shouldn’t be too much of an issue!

Particularly exciting is the fact that the galaxy is generated a-new each play through. No two star systems will be the same and this increases the game’s re-playability by a large factor in my opinion. You can find out more over at the game’s site on the web:, but here’s the official low down:

Rebel Galaxy is an action-packed, swashbuckling space opera. You’ll battle pirates, explore anomalies, befriend aliens, scavenge battle wreckage, mine asteroids, and discover artifacts. Choose your path as a roguish do-gooder, crafty space-trader or power-hungry privateer – or maybe a little of each!  Buy larger and more powerful craft with your hard-earned credits, and outfit them with a variety of wicked weapons and defenses. Set in a galaxy of fantastic sights, and secrets to be found, Rebel Galaxy is above all a space epic of adventure, exploration, and combat.

There’s no news of an actual release date yet, but a playable version of the game will be at PAX. If you’re lucky enough to be attending then be sure to check it out. And let us know what you make of it!
