WB Games have confirmed today that the next DLC to arrive for the recent (and really rather good) Batman Arkham Knight video game is Batgirl: A matter of family.
Rather than being a simple challenge pack (as I’d first feared), this will be a story pack set (obviously!) before the events of the Arkham video game series. I am particularly looking forward to this as I’ve been a fan of Batgirl for longer than I’ve read comics – thanks to my watching the 1960’s television series for which the character was first created. On top of this, my wife is possibly in the top ten percent of the biggest Barbara Gordon fans on the planet so I’m expecting her to be particularly thrilled at the confirmation!
The story pack will launch on 14 July 2015 and is included in the Season Pass for Arkham Knight or it can be purchased seperately for £5.79.
Here’s the official announcement:
Batgirl: A Matter of Family. Set prior to the events of Batman™: Arkham Asylum, Batgirl: A Matter of Family will allow players to take on the role of Batgirl for the first time in the Batman: Arkham franchise. This exciting story add-on features an all-new location with multiple missions, side quests and secrets; a new hacking feature to progress through the world and solve puzzles; and Dual Play functionality with Robin for dynamic take-down manoeuvres. Batgirl: A Matter of Family will be available 14th July for fans who have purchased the Batman: Arkham Knight Season Pass and are connected to the Internet, or it can be purchased separately on 21st July for £5.79 on the PlayStation® Network and Xbox LIVE online entertainment network from Microsoft.
I hope the story mission takes longer than the Harley Quinn story pack – if I’d paid £5.79 for that extra thirty minutes of gameplay, I may have been annoyed! Also – I’d like to see more of Harley as well please!
