The trend for re-mastering older games continues as Bioshock: The Collection is set to arrive on XBOX One, Playstation 4 and PC on September 16, 2016 in the UK and an announcement trailer showcasing the new graphics has been released. For those that haven’t seen it, here it is:
The package includes all three of the Bioshock Games (Bioshock, Bioshock 2 and Bioshock: Infinite) including all of the Downloadable Content released for the titles. Worth noting is that the collection will not include the multiplayer mode for Bioshock 2 and that the PC version of Bioshock: Infinite will not have been re-mastered.
The original game is often hailed as one of the greatest games of all time and it’s clever plot, interesting setting and smooth gameplay certainly mean it’s a contender. I remember playing through the first game long after its release and being surprised by the twist presented. I’ve been meaning to head back at some point and this collection is perhaps the ideal excuse to do so. It could also be a great time to try out the two sequels which I’ve yet to dip into.
I can’t find details of a UK price, but other sites are reporting $59.99 which suggests a price of about £59.99 in the UK. Not bad for three games, and yet I can’t help but think that these re-mastered titles should retail at a lower price than they are doing. Whether you’re a fan of re-masters or not, this is certainly one that should be on the radar – especially for gamers who haven’t experienced the delights of Rapture first hand.
