XCOM: Enemy Unknown Gets DLC

I am enjoying the hell out of Firaxis’ remake of XCOM: Enemy Unknown, and am taking some pleasure in seeing troops named after Syndicate Members battling the forces of invading aliens. So it’s good news that more content is on the way, adding new missions to the core game.

First up, the pre-order bonus pack is now available for purchase on all platforms. Named the “Elite Soldier Pack,” it comes with some armour upgrades, a veteran squad member, and the ability to paint your men’s armour different colours if that’s your sort of thing. The Steam Version costs £3.69 in the UK, or 400 MS points on the x-box 360, and $4.99 on the PS3.

More substantially, Firaxis has announced “Slingshot,” a pack of missions from The Council, including a bonus trooper and early weapon unlocks (presumably as rewards?). The official description:

“In this new set of linked Council missions, gamers will meet an enigmatic Triad operative, divert an alien ship’s course, and do battle with the aliens in the skies over China. The Slingshot Content Pack includes three new maps tied to the Council missions, a new playable squad character with a unique story and voice and new character customization options.”

I expect I’ll have finished the game by the time this comes out, but XCOM feels very replayable, so (price depending) I can see this being worth picking up.
