Journey Soundtrack becomes the first game Soundtrack to receive a Grammy nomination

JourneyHighly rated Playstation game Journey’s soundtrack has become the first full video game soundtrack to be nominated for a Grammy after being nominated for the the Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media.

The games soundtrack along with composer Austin Wintory have been nominated for the Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media which incorporates films as well as video games.  Austin Wintory will be going up against against Howard Shore (Hugo), Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight Rises) and John Williams (Tintin).

This is not the first success for the games soundtrack. Earlier this year it became the highest-charting original videogame soundtrack ever on the Billboard 200 chart.

Although it is the first full games soundtrack to be nominated for a Grammy , its not the fist video game song as in 2010, composer Christopher Tin won a Grammy for ‘Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s)’ for “Baba Yetu,” the opening theme for the strategy game Civilization IV.
