Nintendo announce official Wii U price cut & Zelda Wind Waker HD bundle

WiiUIts not been a great first year for the Nintendo Wii U consoles with sales falling far short of expectations and a the perception of a lack of games. This has lead to many retailers cutting the price of the Wii U and some retailer such as ASDA going as far as stopping selling the console. Although prices have been cut this was never an official cut but now Nintendo has officially announced a price cut for its flagship console.

Nintendo has announced a $50 price drop for Wii U. Starting on 20 September, the Wii U Deluxe model will be available for $299.99 in the US. Nintendo of America also intends to phase out the Basic Wii U model to offer just the 32GB Premium package. Nintendo also announced a Premium Wii U Wind Waker HD hardware bundle that will also be available in Europe when the game launches on 4 October. No official UK price cut has been revealed but UK retailer GAME is currently listing the hardware bundle for £249.99.
