Nvidia Shield hand-held console to be released 31st July

Nvidia project_shieldNVIDIA has confirmed that its upcoming Android gaming handheld, Shield, will start shipping on July 31st. The Shield is a handheld console running on Android OS, featuring a flip-up 5-inch (130 mm) touchscreen display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. The device is similar in form to a Xbox 360 controller, with two analog joysticks, a D-pad, and other buttons.


The Shield was originally due to ship on June 27 before Nvidia announced a last-minute delay. Nvidia posted the following message

We want to thank you for your patience and for sticking with us through the shipment delay of your SHIELD. We have great news to share with you – your SHIELD will ship on July 31st.

Our goal has always been to ship the perfect product, so we made sure we submitted SHIELD to the most rigorous mechanical testing and quality assurance standards in the industry. We built SHIELD because we love playing games, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
