SDCC – 2010 – Marvel Round up – Day 1

The first day off SDCC has finished and there was lots of news from Marvel. Here are the main bullet points. This news was collected from around the web, i wasn’t able to stay up and watch the live blogs from the marvel panels, so thanks to the comic book sites that collected all the information.

AVENGERS

  • Joss Whedon officially announced as director for the avengers
  • No. Hulk announcement (yet).

CAPTAIN AMERICA

  • Mark Waid will write Captain America: Man out of Time. stories about cap just after he gets thawed
  • Captain America: White will be out around the same time as the movie.

IMMORTAL IRON FIST

  • Arune Singh said we would need to check out the Shadowland series if we want to know if an Immortal Iron Fist series will return.
  • Meanwhile, Fred Van Lente and Wellinton Alves are re-teaming for Power Man and Iron Fist featuring the new Power Man, and the classic Iron Fist.

LOKI

  • Loki mini series due in October

MARVEL DIGITAL COMICS

  • Iron Man Extremis announced as the company’s most successful motion comic.
  • Thor will get a motion comic around the same time as the film.
  • Ultimate Thor will get a day and date release in October.
  • According to Marvel EVP Ira Rubenstein claims that Day and Date release doesn’t hurt or help the comic book stores (so far)

MARVEL KNIGHTS

  • A possible Marvel Knights TV series (probably animated) might be announced soon

MARVEL ZOMBIES

  • no end in site as long as fans keep reading them.

STRANGE TALES

  • A second volume of the series is planned for next year.

SUPER HERO SQUAD

  • The online game will launch in early 2011

ULTIMATE (COMICS)

  • Ultimate Doom starts in December
  • Ultimate Enemy is a story that has never been seen before, according to Brian Bendis.
