Ubisoft announce Call of Juarez: The Cartel

Ubisoft has just announced the latest game in the Call of Juarez franchise, called Call of Juarez: The Cartel. The game is being scheduled for release this summer but the twist is that it is set in modern day LA. The new FPS is set in the present day but features Wild West weapons, costumes and other elements the franchise is known for.

“Call of Juarez: The Cartel is an action-packed shooter game with a strong story, interesting characters and a wide variety of gameplay options,” said Caroline Stevens, EMEA Brand director at Ubisoft.

“The game will bring the best elements of the Wild West into modern times with a very gritty and relevant plot.”

The game is due for release on 360, PS3 and PC this summer.

Hmmm….considering how good Red Dead Redemption is and the fact I thought the last Call of Jaurez game was decent, I’m not sure why Ubisoft want to set this game in a modern day setting. Let’s see how things pan out as we get more info and gameplay footage.

  1. I haven’t played any of the Juarez series yet, but I thought the idea of the “Old West in Modern Day” sounded interesting. From the art they’ve posted on it today, it certainly maintains that western style.
