Prepare for the Hunt – Shadow of Mordor DLC

Warner Bros Games have announced the first DLC pack for Shadow of Mordor which will not only add new story elements but also new types of enemy for Talion to combat.

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor was (in my opinion) a triumph of a game and I spent thirty-four hours exploring every aspect of the game available. I was a little sad when I had finished and felt it was perhaps time to move away from the shadowy land of Mordor and its population of Orc personalities and slave rebellions.

Titled Lord of the Hunt, the DLC will add a number of gameplay elements to the core title:

  • New Story & Lore – Discover more tales from Torvin, the Dwarven Hunter, as you work together to tame the beasts of Mordor and fight Sauron’s minions.
  • New Nemeses – Face off against the Beastmaster Warchiefs, powerful new Uruks who have the ability to ride monsters and engage in perilous mounted combat.
  • New Monsters – Ride into battle on the Wretched Graug to vomit toxin at your foes, stalk your enemies on the predatory Caragath and attack from the shadows or raise an all-consuming Ghul Horde.
  • New Missions & Challenges – New Beast Hunting challenges and collectibles open up new trophies and achievements.
  • New Epic Runes – Make your Mount unstoppable with five new epic Runes that make you the ultimate hunter.
  • Test of the Wild – Test your skills against the Beastmasters and mount your trophies on the leaderboard.
  • New Character Skin – Lord of the Hunt skin transform Talion into the ultimate Beastmaster.

I have to say, I am most excited about the mounted combat element as I thought riding was superbly executed in Shadow of Mordor and it was a shame that only Talion (and one of his allies) ever appeared on a mount. Given the depth of the gameplay on offer, I imagine some fantastic skirmishes on the horizon!

It’ll also be great to meet up with Torvin again, as I really enjoyed his character.

There is no word on a release date for the DLC, but here are a couple of screen shots to tease you with in the interim.
