Indie studio Camoflaj has announced that its episodic stealth adventure game République Remastered will launch on PC and Mac on 26th February via Steam, gog.com and The Humble Store. République Remastered will include Episode 1: Exordium, Episode 2: Metamorphosis, and Episode 3: Ones and Zeroes in both its Standard and Deluxe editions.
République Remastered tasks the player with helping character Hope, a young woman trapped in an Orwellian state. She communicates with the player via a stolen phone and asks them to hack the surveillance system, take control and then guide her out of the clutches of the ever-present Overseer. Over time, the player builds their abilities until they become an active threat against the Overseer.
The game was first birthed on mobile platforms so its journey to more powerful hardware brings with it an increase in graphical fidelity by moving from the Unity 4 engine to Unity 5.
“Ever since we committed to doing a desktop version of République, we’ve been haunted by the task for delivering something truly special for PC players. When we got a glimpse at the next iteration of Unity we realized that this was the answer — beyond redesigning the game’s controls and UI for desktop, we’ve completely gutted all the game’s art, rebuilding everything using Unity 5’s cutting-edge graphical features. The result is something you have to see to believe.” – Ryan Payton, designer at Camouflaj.
