Voting Now Open for Golden Joystick Awards 2014

The shortlist has been announced and voting is now open for the awards show decided by gamers, the Golden Joystick Awards 2014. The awards show, presented by Green Man Gaming, takes place on the afternoon of Friday 24th October at the indigO2 in the O2 Arena. Presented by Ed Byrne, the event aims to acknowledge all that is good about gaming by hoping for another record-breaking year. Last year’s event saw ten million people cast their votes to help decide which games and developers got the nod.

This, its 32nd year, has 16 reader voted categories, along with special awards decided by an expert panel consisting of the editorial teams. Categories include Best Original Game, Studio of the Year, Best Visual Design and Game of the Year among others. A full list can be found on the Goldenjoystick website.

Some of 2014’s most nominated games include Tearaway, iOS game Device 6, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Mario Kart 8 and Resogun.

Andy Robinson, Editor of CVG, says: “The Golden Joysticks are the world’s longest running games awards, but more importantly they’re the only annual awards voted for by the public. Building on 2013’s hugely successful revamp, which saw ten new categories amass more than ten million votes, we hope this year’s ceremony will deliver the most relevant and exciting awards yet, and showcase the passion and innovation that’s ripe across the games industry.”
