Just before EGX 2015, I posted about a really interesting game that I wanted to check out while there. Wailing Heights (developed by Outsider Studios) is a musical adventure game set in a hamlet populated by monsters.
The game has now hit Steam Greenlight, so head on over and give it a boat if it tickles your fancy.
Here’s the overview blurb:
A coffin-rocking, body-hopping, musical adventure game, set in a horrific hamlet of monsters, with a story by Kevin Beimers (Hector: Badge of Carnage) and glorious 2D artwork from a host of illustrious comic book talent.
Set in a peaceful, blood-curdling village blessed with gorgeous panoramic mountaintop views and the blissful stench of rotting corpses, Wailing Heights is home to the likes of vegan werewolves, hipster vampires, gossiping ghosts and all manner of well-adjusted supernatural taxpaying home-owners.
I really like the rather original concept presented by the game. In order to solve a puzzle the player needs to possess a certain monster. To do this, they need to discover the monster’s name, what they love and hate which allows the player to use body-hopping lyrics to possess the monster. Combined with a delightful comic book art style I think this is a game that lovers of puzzles and adventures will delight in.
Here’s the trailer to help convince you! Or you could just head over to Greenlight and hit that thumbs up button!
