Xbox Games with Gold finally gets a more recent game in Sleeping Dogs

In the December episode of The Next Level Gaming podcast both Ant and I complained about the lack of recent games in Microsoft’s Games with Gold service compared with Sony’s Playstation Plus service. The service gives all Gold subscribers 2 new games every month for free available on the 1st and 16th has had some great games made available but these have been very old  games most Xbox 360 owners would have played.

Previous games like Assassin’s Creed 2 (2009), Halo 3 (2007), Rainbow Six Vegas (2006) Crackdown, 2007, Dead Rising 2 (2010) and Gears of War (2006) show just how old these games are. A prime example in the difference of Games with Gold compared to Playstation Plus is that Assassins Creed 2 was a Games for Gold release in July last year while Playstation Plus subscribers got Assassins Creed 3 a couple of months later. Remember Me the Capcom game originally released in June 2013 is another example of a new game made available for free on Playstation Plus last year.

Although Sleeping Dogs was originally released in August 2012, it is  the most recent game to be made available  with the service. With a Games Ranking and Metacritic score of 81% and 80% respectively it is also a very good game. I’ve already downloaded it and recommend Xbox 360 Gold subscribers that have never played the game download it while they have the chance.

You will be able to download Sleeping Dogs up until the 15th of January with a new game due to be available on the 16th January rumoured to be Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, another older game from 2010 but again another well reviewed game with a Metacritic score of 85%.

So please Microsoft lets start seeing some more 2012 and 2013 games made available.
